Meet the teacher - Rachel McCarthy
Originally completing her 200 hour training with the Power Yoga Company in London; Rachel has since trained in Mandala with The Yoga People, Pre and Post Natal Yoga with Katy Appleton and Children’s yoga from ages of 2 – 14 with Triyoga.
‘I am currently teaching both Mandala and Postnatal Yoga. I love both styles I teach for very different reasons’
Mandala is a beautiful meditative practice where you are challenged physically, with a lovely fluid quality to it, so you are almost dancing round your mat. Always with a chance to bring your own additions to the practice it is a fun and energising practice.
Mums and Bubs is a chance for you to do something for yourself and learn some essential skills to keep in your tool kit. By not only building back essential strength to help day to day but also to help support you with the rest of your fitness journey. I love being able to share something so valuable with people.
As well as learning techniques to help with relaxation and stress reduction amongst the chaos, realising it does not have to be serene and calm all the time for you to learn how to relax. In fact what I personally think yoga is best for, is teaching you how to take a moment, take a pause, focus on your breath, when life gets busy, hectic and maybe a bit overwhelming.
My absolute favourite thing about teaching is hearing how much it helps people. Having people sincerely thanking me for what they have learned in class; be it during stressful times – helping people who have had operations or exams, an instant sense of relief (or my favourite comment, ‘I feel like a marshmallow’), making people feel good longer term and building healthy habits. Yoga really is a practice you take off your mat and equips you for helping you in your day to day lives.
